Hide Softening

Join us for this full-day gathering as Delmar Williams (Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw & Líl̓wat Nation) shares his knowledge on how to soften an elk hide using ancestral skills and techniques.

This gathering is a continuation of the 4-day hide tanning workshop that was held in the spring. The softened hide will be used in our upcoming programs.

Participating in this workshop requires no previous experience and is a great way to familiarize yourself with parts of the hide tanning process. Come for the teachings, the hands-on experience, the community, and of course the food!

Our programming is provided at no cost to participants. We standby the belief that as Indigenous Peoples, we should not have to pay to reclaim, learn and practice our cultures. As a nonprofit organization, we rely on funding from grants and donations.
