Our mission is to continue to learn and share our diverse cultures, traditions, and teachings with all our relations by reseeding intergenerational knowledge through cultural events, programs, community gatherings, and capacity building.
OUR IMPACT
At manoomin collective, we believe in creating space for First Nations, Inuit, and Métis to connect, share, practice, and celebrate their diverse cultures.
A space where there are no barriers to access and practice their inherent rights to their cultures. A space to (re)connect, learn, share, grow, and thrive. A space where knowledge and teachings are reseeded. A space where all are welcome.
A space for the future generations.
As Indigenous Peoples of Turtle Island, we understand the importance of community connection and the far reaching generational impacts that being together creates. When we are together and we share our stories, teachings, and knowledge, we are planting seeds for the future generations.
We invite all of our First Nations, Inuit, and Métis relatives to join in our gatherings, events, and programs and to contribute to building a lasting, interconnected, urban-Indigenous community in the Sea-to-Sky corridor.
COMMUNITY GATHERINGS
Community gatherings are a vital part of who we are. They are a chance to come together as First Nations, Inuit, and Metis to build strong relationships, and to feel a deep connection to community and each other.
Gatherings create opportunities for connection between generations and cultures. At each gathering, sharing of food will be central – a time to nourish both body and spirit together.
We will also offer a variety of activities that honour the turning of the seasons, reflecting our deep connection to the land, waters, sky, and all our relations.
EVENTS & PROGRAMS
Whether you are deeply connected or reconnecting, we invite you to join us at our events and programs. From hide tanning, powwow dancing, regalia making, drumming circles, beading circles, seasonal harvesting and so much more. We provide an inclusive space for the Indigenous community to come together to learn, practice, share, and celebrate our diverse cultures.
If you have teachings that you would like to share (and have permission to share) we would love to connect with you. Head over to our GET INVOLVED page for our contact details.
CAPACITY BUILDING
At the heart of our work is a deep commitment to the growth and well-being of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis. We believe that by sharing knowledge and resources, we can cultivate meaningful opportunities for personal development so that together we can rise.
We are dedicated to working in collaboration with Elders, Knowledge Carriers, youth, and Indigenous professionals and organizations. We offer a space that encourages learning, collaboration, and growth. By working together, we can share knowledge, skills, and resources. As a collective, together we can create opportunities for personal development and growth.
