Youth Story Time

Caroline Chandler, Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw, leads an engaging hour of stories focused on youth. Join us as she shares Indigenous stories, some stories spoke in Sḵwx̱wú7mesh sníchim (Squamish language).

Powwow Practice

Learn the basics of powwow dancing with Nyla Bedard (Tahltan Nation). She will teach the dance steps of the different styles with focus on the traditional, jingle and fancy shawl. Nyla will also explain about the different types of songs and a little history behind the dances. Wear comfortable clothes you can move in and bring a water bottle.

Birch Bark & Quill Workshop

Learn the art of porcupine quillwork using birch bark in this beginner-friendly, hands-on workshop led by Melody Anne Kwe, Winneway First Nation. Participants will learn basic techniques for preparing quills, creating multiple designs, and applying them to small birch bark projects.

Beaded Lanyard Workshop

Learn how to make a beaded lanyard with Melissa Arnott, Batchewana First Nation. She’ll share foundational beading techniques and tips that she has learned. Participants will receive hands-on guidance and will leave with the knowledge and materials to finish their lanyard at home.
